hi everyone ... well i bought this 87 ford f150 been restoring it the past 2 months little by little and suddenly when I start the truck it makes like a grinding/crakling sound ...
what do u think it could be maybe the starter or flywheel cause it sometimes starts on the first try then on second try but it only does it once in a while?
well if it only makes the sound when cranking it you only have two things to grind on, the ring gear and the starter gear. possibly your starter gear or flywheel gear is worn. you could pull the starter should be only 2 bolts and take a peek then turn the motor over and look at the ring gear all the way around it.
it was my starter it went bad still work but they told me it was griding with flywheel .... hope it fixes it know until tomorrow
