Unable to put in gear

F250 5.4 l auto trans. 2002
Drove the truck today no problems, stopped for 1 hr then started up and now unable to put the truck in gear.
dropped the stering column and I am able to reach in on the left side of column and push down and release the brake interlock switch? and the truck will shift into gear.

Will unplugging the silanode work and is that some thing that is replacible. or can it be by passed?
Thanks
