Re: US to AU conversions

1 kg = 2.2046 lbs

So....

(2100 kg/1)(2.2046 lbs/1kg) = 4629.66 lbs

(4620 lbs/1)(1kg/2.2046 lbs) = 2095.62 kg

Just organize your conversions so the units you don't want cancel out.

How about some confusion????

The funny part is that kg is actually a unit of mass not weight. The unit of weight is actually a Newton(N). 1 Newton is the force required to accelerate an object with mass of 1 kg at a rate of 1 m/s/s.

There are also 2 types of "lbs"......pounds force and pounds mass. On Earth where g= 32.174 ft/s/s, one pound force equals one pound mass but they are not the same. An object can weight nothing and still have mass.

LOL, just some food for thought. :-)

Re: US to AU conversions

oh great i knew i should have locked this thread 89
now look who woke up !
well anyway my conversion chart dont care if the weight of a fig newton is less than or greater than the weight of brain matter !
i know now that its just rounded off to make it simple.

1kg=2.2lbs on my chart not actually 2.2046 lbs

i would rather push my Ford than drive your Chevy !
