My 2003 F250 V10 automatic makes a weird noise at about 2000rpm /when shifting from i think 1st to second... (could be 2nd to third). i think its an exhaust noise but it kinda sounds like diesling. The noise does not happen on other gears just at this 2000rpm gear.. I can keep the noise if I feather the gas to keep the rpms there. Is this a problem to worry about? I saw on other sites they described this as and exhaust cackle and a computer code may or may not fix this after imputted by a mechanic??

i have the same noise at the same rpm.
mine sounds like it comes from one of the exhaust heatsheilds . i dont think its anything to worry about . i just make it get out of the gear it happens in real fast . the v10 uses alot of shields on the exhaust so witch one it is i have no way of telling

I just bought a 99 f-250 and had this problem. the guy told me the engine was blown so i got it dirt cheap. a lot of f series trucks have issues with the exhuast manifolds rusting. mine had rusted out 4 out of 10 studs on one side and about the same on the other. you need the two peice gasket set and 10 studs and nuts. all about $70 bucks if you do it yourself.

So, its probly that thats your problem.
