Re: Victim of the Sparkplug

Send a complaint to NHTSA. It could be a safety issue if the engine dies while your driving along on the interstate.... If NHTSA gets enough complaints (and unfortunately, accidents), they'll push Ford to order a recall. Notify the dealer as well and ask if there has been a technical service bulletin (TSB) published about the problem. If anything it'll let the dealer know about the problem. You'll have to fork over the cost to fix it so keep the bills in case a TSB or recall is issued to correct the problem. Worst case scenario is that they won't reimburse you. If anything else they'll put proper parts on even after the repair so the likelihood of it happening again will be minimal.

Re: Victim of the Sparkplug

I forgot to mention, second owners or people that don't submit an address change to Ford, aren't notified of TSBs. It's best to discuss the problem with the dealer and ask if a TSB has been issued.

Re: Victim of the Sparkplug

Saying the name won't matter much. A lot of the local shops here have 8-12ppl working there, and only ONE, maybe two, are certified techs. It keeps costs down and profits up, especially when they charge close to $100/hr here.... arg

Make sure you get a rental/loaner while your vehicle's in the shop!
