Im trying to figure out why the water in fuel light keeps coming on after engine is warm. I replace the fuel filter and drain all fuel every 60days no matter the mileage which is usually less than 300 miles within the 60days. The light will come on right after the filter is changed also. Is this a sensor gone bad mabye?

If you keep draining your HFCM & getting little or no water,then your sensor is probably bad,it happened on my 05 F250,had the senor replaced & no problems since.

I'd say it's almost certainly the sensor.... you can't get enough water in that short a time to trip the light. Have you drained the HFCM into a clear container so you can check to see if it really is water? I'd bet it's all fuel.

Aside from getting a really bad tankful of fuel, you don't need to replace the fuel filters any more often than 15,000 miles.... and a lot of guys go 20,000 between changes. Changing filters every 60 days is a totally unneccessary expense. Also, I'll post again after I dig up the part number.... get your fuel filters from your friendly local Navistar (Internaional) truck dealer..... LOTS cheaper than getting screwed by the Ford dealer.

Another tip.... now that the pumps are almost all ULSD, you need to add an injector lubrication additive to your fuel; I'd recommend Opti-Lube XPD, but a lot of guys add Power Service... white bottle in the winter, grey bottle in the summer.

THANKS FOR THE INFO ON BEING THE SENSOR. iF YOU ONLY KNEW THE CONDITIONS THIS TRUCK IS RUN IN YOU WOULD CHANGE EVERY FILTER 3 TIMES AS MUCH AS YOU DO ON A ROAD VEHICLE. THIS TRUCK STAYS IN A ROCK QUARRY AND DOES NOT GO OUT ON THE ROAD. WE ALSO HAVE SCHEDULED MAINTENECE PROCEDURES WE FOLLOW AS IN THIS TRUCKS CASE IT IS EVERY 60DAYS, AND ALL FILTERS GET CHANGED AT 60DAY INTERVAL. OUR CONDITIONS IN THE QUARRY WILL AND FOR SURE TEAR UP WHAT NORMAL DRIVING VEHICLES WILL NEVER TEAR UP. AND THE GOOD THING ABOUT THE FREQEUNT REPLACEMENTS OF FILTERS I DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM MY COMPANY DOES.
