confused Water on top of engine

I am having the problem of water getting on top of the engine and getting into one of the ignition coils causing a missfire. This only happens when it is raining or after I have gone through a carwash. When I look under the hood the felt on the hood is wet. Does anyone have an idea how this is happening? 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew

Re: Water on top of engine

Check the dealer for any recalls or technical service bulletins on the matter first. If none exist, then check your weather stripping around the hood, especially around the wiper cowl area. Remove any debris that may have accumulated (leaves, etc).

I wouldn't suggest on going through an automated car wash that has an underbody spray. Try for a coin-op only. Also, be sure that the front wheel well liners are not missing, as they deflect moisture and road debris from entering the engine compartment.
