White Smoke Please Help - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I have an 05' 250 6.0 i just replaced the egr valve and it started smoking again. when i bought it the cat and muffler was replaced with 3" pipe instead of 3.5". i wouldnt have done this. do you think that this could be a problem? can you help me any ideas??

I doubt the different sized exhaust would cause the problem. However, if the exhaust is smaller going to the cat converter, that may be a problem as the O2 sensors will read differently than if you had the larger exhaust installed. Be sure you're not going through any fluids, coolant will generally burn white.

since you have a 6.0 you wont have O2 sensors so wouldnt worry bout anything like that. my suggestion is pull your egr vavle off and look to see if you have any coolant in or on egr vavle. if there is, your looking at an egr cooler. if you cant find coolant in the egr vavle you might be haveing a head gasket problem.

By chance do you have dual exhaust? If so is the white smoke coming out of both sides?

no i dont have duel exhaust and i took it to a dealer to get it fixed and they replaced the egr last week and it is already doing it again it is very frustrating. do you think that the egr cooler is under warranty also??

egr cooler should be under the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty, where you had to pay the 100.00 war fee last time for the egr vavle I would raise a little cain and make them fix it without having to pay the war fee again since they didn't get it correct the first time.

thanks for your post i took it back to the dealer yesterday and told them i will not pay the fee!! they said they would fix it
