Wipers/Int. Light/Door Open bell don't work - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I have a 1998 F-150. Wipers stopped working as did the interior light and the dinging door-open alert. No blown fuses. However, after I had removed the 30 amp windshield wiper fuse from the fuse box, the light came on and the dinging began. This lasted for less than five seconds then went off.

This began a few seconds AFTER I had removed the fuse and ended before I put the wiper fuse back in.

Loose wire or short somewhere? Any advice would be very much appreciated. I really can't afford to pay for a car repair right now.

Did you make sure all fuses were tight in their place? Be sure to check the fuse panel under the dash as well if you haven't already done so. The main fuse box under the hood generally doesn't have the smaller fuses for accessories.

Yep, all fuses are in snug. I pulled all of them and put back in tightly -- under the dash and under the hood.

Damn. Too bad it wasn't that simple to find. Electrical problems are the worst to diagnose. If worse comes to worse and you don't want to take it into a dealer or another shop to get diagnosed, you can try to ohm the problem down to the source, but again, it'll more likely take the near part of a day.
