Would glow pulgs cause my truck not to start ona cold day

I try to start my truck and it turns over and over and nothiing then all of a sudden it fires and its good the rest of the day

First Turn you key to the on position, you will see a series of sybols light up on your speedomitter panel. There is one on the top right that looks like a sideways number 8. You have to wait until this light goes off before attempting to start your truck. This symbol turns off when the glow plug is hot enough to ignite the fuel.

do you have a block heater? my truck starts hard also. i usually wait for the light to go off let it crank 3 or 4 times turn the key off and try again. you don't want to be to hard on the starter.
