Read Former leader Johnson stumbles into the Chase.

Jimmie Johnson looked like being the odds on points leader at the end of the 26-race part one of the 2004 Nextel Cup season after a stellar first half to the season. But as the inaugural ten-race ‘Chase for the Championship' gets set to kick off, Johnson is hardly one of the ‘in form' drivers after suffering his fourth finish of 36th or worse in the last six races on Saturday in Richmond.
