Napa auto parts 200 Montreal !!!

But there are some serious RC drivers this year, this race should be a cracker

Jul 29 NASCAR Nationwide Series:The NASCAR Nationwide Series prepares for its second consecutive trip to Montreal's famed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve – where this year the son of the road course's namesake will participate in the event. Jacques Villeneuve leads a contingent of eight Canadians – including Patrick Carpentier (Quebec), Ron Fellows (Ontario) and DJ Kennington (Ontario) – who will race in front of their passionate fans. Carpentier is foregoing his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ride in Pocono for Gillett Evernham Motorsports in order to concentrate on the Montreal event. Two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Terry Labonte – whose family tree extends to Montreal and was the test driver for the series in May 2007 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve – will drive for Carpentier in Pocono. Last year's race was one of the most exiting in each of NASCAR's national series in 2007. Kevin Harvick won the inaugural event. Robby Gordon was involved in a scrape with then-leader Marcos Ambrose with two laps to go, resulting in Gordon capturing the lead. Or so he believed. He wasn't the winner, though he celebrated along with Harvick on the frontstretch. Also performing a celebratory burnout along with Harvick and Gordon was Carpentier, the Quebec native who finished second after winning his first career pole in NASCAR competition earlier in the day. Harvick isn't back to defend his race win and Gordon is racing in Pocono only. Ambrose returns with an eye on his first series victory.(NASCAR) (07-29-08)

Re: Napa auto parts 200 Montreal !!!

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nasca...deNotes20080729

It's hard to blame Tad Geschickter for being in a good mood these days. Not only did Marcos Ambrose qualify the Ford Geschickter co-owns with Brad Daugherty for the Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis, but now the Nationwide Series heads to Montreal.

A year ago, it would have been understandable if Geschickter headed back across the U.S./Canada border in a foul mood. Ambrose was in the lead with the laps down to a few, but he had an angry Robby Gordon on his bumper for the restart, and anyone paying attention knew what was about to happen.

Gordon lived up to expectations by knocking Ambrose out of the lead, though he was subsequently penalized by NASCAR for his actions. Ambrose and Gordon patched up their differences, with Gordon even making a Cup ride available to Ambrose last season.

Geschickter and Ambrose aren't going to try the Cup Series again until Kansas, so the focus is on the Nationwide Series, and what Geschickter hopes is a win Saturday in Montreal.

"He ran a heck of a race last year and really had a shot at winning," Geschickter said. "I hope we can duplicate that. I wouldn't pick anyone over him at most [road courses] we go. I think he's a special talent. Hopefully we can bring one home here."

That's certainly Ambrose's intention, and the fact that Gordon's not entered in this year's race can only help his cause.

"I feel like I've been talking about Robby Gordon for the last 10 months," said Ambrose, who wound up seventh last year. "But what I'm really looking forward to is getting back [to Montreal] and trying to win the race. I feel like we learned a lot from last year."

Ambrose will be among the favorites among the Nationwide Series regulars, but he'll have to compete with a few road-course ringers who are running with full-time teams. Ron Fellows will be in JR Motorsports' No. 5 entry, Jacques Villeneuve will be in Braun Racing's No. 32, Scott Pruett will be in Chip Ganassi Racing's No. 40 entry and Max Papis will drive Rusty Wallace Racing's No. 64.

Boris Said, meanwhile, will be driving a car built by his No Fear Racing team, though the car will run the No. 25 of Team Rensi Motorsports as the teams have formed a partnership for the event.

go fords go !!!!!!!!

Re: Napa auto parts 200 Montreal !!!

Now that was a crazy race, they will have to test on that track for next year, Goodyear you stuffed up bad, ruined a good race for the drivers & teams.

And the fans that paid good money to see tyres that didn't work for the track?
Ambrose Qualified 24th but because of an engine change had to start at the rear, worked his way up to 22nd finish , if he had started in 24th he would have at least a top 10 in his debut race at the big show at INDY, that would have been a great debut for a new start up team that had to get in on speed, The tv never got one shot of him passing the cars, espn need a kick up the arse for the shocking telecast, if you didn't know, it just looked like there were 5 cars racing, not 43?

At LEAST ambrose had a good race & finished on the lead lap in his cup oval race.

I AM STILL GETTING OVER A WELL DESERVED BEER & BARBEQUE BASH.

the next 2 weeks are going to be ROAD COURSES
so go aussie go !!!!!!!!!

Ambrose will concentrate on NASCAR Nationwide Series duties next weekend in the NAPA Auto Parts 200 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, a race that Ambrose all-but won last year before he was involved in a controversial incident with Robby Gordon.

http://enews.mnews.com.au/
Pages 10 & 26 have stacks on the race & there are other pages that have v8's news. Click on the side tabs then it opens up & click on the article you want & it re-sizes so you can read them.

ALL THE NASCAR COVERAGE IS MAINLY BECAUSE AMBROSE went for his dream in america, before he went there this mag had bugger all on Nascar.

It's going to be a hard weekend for me, theres the Montreal RC race & the v8's at WINTON............. REVHEAD HEAVEN

The following weekend Ambrose will again do double-duty, racing both the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series races at the Watkins Glen International road course in New York state. The Sprint Cup start will come in the #21 Little Debbie Ford Fusion of Wood Brothers Racing THE ONE HE RACED AT INFINEON.

Ambrose is living his Nascar dream & loving it
