worked on lincolns with 5.0, this is the first with a 4.6. does the engine come out from the bottom? looking i think it does. can anyone help.

Removing it from the bottom is the easiest way to do it. Drop the subframe, engine and tranny all as one piece. (Do not forget to let the air out of the front struts.) The 4R70W has an extruded rectangular part on the left side of the bellhousing. Removing this with an angle grinder after removal from the engine may make it easier to remount the tranny to the engine.
