I have searched the internet all over but can't seem to find what I am looking for. To make a long story short. I have a 1985 Mercury Topaz 2.0 diesel that runs great, but the body is body is about rusted off. My friend has a 1993 Escort with a bad engine. Can I swap my diesel engine into this car??? I am curious if I can just swap out the cradles and strut assemblies? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Dan
I do not think swapping the subframes is going to work. The Tempo and Topaz were built on the same platform. The Escort and Lynx were on another.
You should be able to swap the engines as long as you transfer all the engine electronics as well. The harness probably will not fit and have to be modified.
