Can anyone tell me whats involved in order to swap the auto in my 75 Escort 2 door for a manual transmission?
The floor pan & crossmember appears to be different & I was hoping the may be a simple way around

A couple of years ago, we fitted a 2L Pinto motor & 5-speed box to my nephew's '75 Escort. It originally had a 1300 + auto. The conversion was easy, using original mounts. The only mod needed was to cut the gear shifter hole back a little bit & use the auto gearbox mount to drop the box away from the floor. All pretty straight forward.

It shouldnt be too troublesome, I heard that an Auto escort tunnel is bigger than a manual tunnel, so a manual 'box can be fitted to a factory auto, but not vice versa.
A mark 2 escort auto body can fit a Sierra gearbox quite easily
