i have an 84 escort station wagon with a carb. it has bean sitting in my yard for a couple of years. i went out and put a battery in it and cleaned the air filter and checked the fluids it started right up. it itles a little rough but hay it runs i walked around the car and found some black smoke coming out of the tail pipe figured it was burning of some stuff i drove it down the road it it was a little weak (not up to par) i came back and still it was puting out black smoke. i thought the chock was stuck on but that did not pan out. then came into mind that the rings were going bad on the cylenders got a second and third opinion and they doubted it so i figure the carb has something going haywire.so what do you thing put in your thougths Thanks o so far i have changed the oil sparkplugs and wires roter cap and roater forgive the spelling.
