88 escort timing belt out. what other problems go with that? - Ford Forums

I'm buying an 88 escort 5spd and the timing belt went out. So i need to know what other problems will go along with that besides bent valves. Any help would be much apreciated.

You've already mentioned worst case scenario, just needs a new belt fitting and seeing if it's misfiring, if not already done.

If this is a 1.9 or 2.0L engine, it will not bend the valves. The other part to change when doing this belt is the water pump.
