94 Escort LX - How do I remove the dash for a new stereo? - Ford Forums

okay my brother had best buy install a clarion cd player years ago, I want to put my alpine in it for the time being, my acura was in a wreck

I tried removing a bunch of screws, but the dashboard just won't come out entirely

are there any diagrams on the net that will show me how to do this?

Can't you not remove the stereo without dismantling the dash, on my Escort all thats needed is 2 stiff lengths of wire, slide them into the slots on each side of the headunit and the headunit should just slide out.

ya on my escort i just slide in these 2 metal stick things and it pops out

There is no way you should have to pull apart the dash to do this. I was able to reach behind the dash with one hand and gently push it out with a little effort so unless someone bent out the chassis locking tabs it shouldn't be a problem.
