Question 95 escort wont shift

Hi. The other day I replaced the thermostat in a 95 ford escort automatic.. Once the job was done took it for a test drive and now the car will not shift from 1st to 2nd until it hits 5000 rpms. The car shifted fine before replacing the thermostat. I would think one would not have to do with the other so I figured I would ask for some ideas. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Re: 95 escort wont shift

How is it for the other gears and does it give you problems walking it through by hand?

Re: 95 escort wont shift

You probably have a 4EAT Mazda transmission. They don't have a kickdown cable.
