96 Escort Gt Hesitation

HELP!!

I have a '96 Escort GT that hesitates when I drive. I took it to a Ford Dealership and they hooked it up and told my the O2 sensor was "Lazy". They could see it on the lap top. They replaced the O2 sensor and hooked the car back on the laptop and the O2 sensor was still "Lazy".

They then suggested to replace the ECU which costs $1,000 or look for one in the junk yard. I can not find a ECU with the correct calibration number on it. Anyone else experience this problem?

THANKS!!

if ya wnat an ECU at a good price, try the for sale/classified sectiond of the following two escort boards

www.feoa.net

or on Ebay if there happens to be one

I have seen several EGT's being parted out there, I know the 96 had quite a few differences than the 91-95 as far as engine management...but I hope this will help you out

Before you jump the gun check and see if there's a leak in the intake tube between the air box and the throttle body. This is the most common reason for hesitation in these model's. You may have to look real closely for a possible crack in the corrogated tube, their sometime's hard to find.
