confused 97 escort engine

Hi ! Im actually shopping for a car and I found an 97 escort at a really good price but it indicates 188 000 km so im asking myself about th engine reliability because I wouldnt like the engine to fail me in 2 or 3 months, I do need my car alot for work... also would apreciate comments from owners that tested the thing during winter if possible, I live in Québec, Ca so winter is a big concern for me..... and ive heard that the radio is really hard to change is that true ? Because I intent to put a cd player in it....

Well thanks for replys ....

Nancy

Re: 97 escort engine

I own a 97 escort with 224,500 and have never had any issues with the engine as for the radio it`s built into the dash panel but crutchfield at one time made an adapter plate. As far as the cd player I have a external pioneer installed in mine. hope this helps .

Re: 97 escort engine

The radio comes out with special tools and is easy to remove with those tools.
