98 escort zx2 wont start - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hay everyone, new to the forum
Have a 98 zx2 with 120k miles, been running good, at 100k changed the timeing belt and thats about it. the other day had a loose connection on the neg. terminal on the battery, went to cranck and it just clicked, tightened the connection on the neg. terminal and now it will not crank, battery is in good condition, motor just turns over but will not fire. Checked all fuses(under dash and hood) Was running fine until loose connection and clicked.

When you turn the key on do you hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds? Not to the start position, just ign, on.

No i havent noticed, I did check the cut off switch in the trunk for the fuel pump, i reset it and still nothing

No i havent, but i havent paid attention, do you think that it is the fuel pump? it was running fine until the loose connection on the battery and like i said after tightenin the post that was it.

Try to pay attention. Then let us know. It could have gone out but just coincidentaly, not what you did.

not gonna believe this, was jumping it off to see if i could hear the fuel pump and noticed a small black wire with what looks kinda like a small tipe of fuse connection on the end of the wire laying toward the back of the battery, it had a connection at the end, hooked it up to the neg. terminal and fired her up, aint that something.
