i keep having to change my front two wheels every few months as they are both wearing rapidly on the inside edge.i have been told at kwik fit that i need the camber doing and can only have it done at a ford garage as they have the settings.how much would this cost approx?

The wheels would have to be pretty far off to cause the tires to wear that quick. How is the toe-in?

/.....\ if you can imagine /\ as being the tyres,they would be slanting inwards to wear on the inside edge of the tyre.we had everything else checked recently at a kwik fit garage and they said it was the camber?we've changed the tyres twice now in less than a year.

Didn't think the camber was adjustable on that car . Only time I've had camber out to that extent was due to something bent and needing replaced . As suggested by " Bert " would suspect wheel alignment if nothing bent or badly worn on suspension . The number of times I've had cars come into w/shop for alignment after being done incorrectly by fast fit centres is unbelievable . I've had tyres worn through to the wire / cord with the alignment miles out or / and unbalanced adjustment i.e , taken up on one side . Would suggest getting it checked elsewhere .

so they cant do the front camber settings on a year 2000 1.6 escort then?i will take it into another garage for another opinion .i took it into one garage and they said they could only do a two wheel alignment,they didn't do four.they did the balancing and the tracking and checked the wishbone and suspension and said they where fine.its a pity if i cant get to the bottom of the problem.the car has been excellent.never failed me engine wise.it only costing me money replacing the tyres.i think i should consider a new car.thankyou for your replies :-)

Can you see the tires leaning in at the top by quite a bit? They'd have to be in a lot to cause wear that fast. Is there feathering like toe-in? Toe-in causes the fastest tire wear of any alighnment problems. HOW TO READ TIRE WEAR
