Hi all. i was just lookin at escort sites yesterday and came across this forum. I have a 73 1300cc 3sp auto 2dr. The paint is a custom black and blue with skulls. Interior is a white cloth trim with blue seats. it was only rebuilt a few years ago, but the paint is in need of attention. it has started to bubble in places and if not fixed shortly, it may become cancerous. The rust isn't structural, but its still rust and i dont like it! I had orignially bought the car to been done up for sprints, but you know how it is.....
As the car sits now, it should be roadworthy. was always serviced and well maintained. Last day of registration was in feb 2004. since then its pretty much just sat. dont worry, I've run it once a week to keep it all good, but paint jobs really dont like to sit around. If the thought of a 1300 3sp auto worries you. I can honestly tell you that i was suprised by some of the trips made in that car. I used to travel a 25km mountain rd nearly every day. in my esky it takes 8 to 10 mins. in the commodore (3ltr 5sp man) it takes 10+. I can't tell you the top speed, but I can tell you it cruises at 80mph (yes, miles!) really well. Not sure if seamwelds and disc front is standard, but its got it, so yeah.
