confused Battery illumination????????

Hello. I have a H reg Escort, 1.6 lx. It,s been serviced, had new leads recon alternator, new battery etc. My problem is that the battery light comes on whilst i am driving, sometimes dimly but can be quite bright. Can anyone solve this mystery? It's driving me nuts!!!!!!!! Any advice greatly appreciated.

The regulator in the alternator may not be seated properly check the voltage output with a multimeter.
