Hi there can anyone give me an idea what to look for to verify a geniune RS2000 and what faults to look for, I'm looking for my son for a first car so I would appreciate any help with tips or web sites for info thanks STROPP

Well, first look for a big puddle of water on the floor of the car... it seems to be common to have a problem with water leaking in from around the heater. My car had very rusted rear quater panels right at the bottom corner near the wheels, this rust also continued into the boot and the bottom of the boot was rusty, under the spare wheel... so check these places for rust or lots of bog. A Genuine RS will have the drop snout front as well as the RS dash and the 'work of art' race bucket seats. The RS dash has the tacho on the left, speedo on the right and in the middle it will have fuel, oil pressure and temperature gauge. there also should be a rs symbol at the bottom in the middle of the lights such as left blinker and so on. An RS may cost a bit to fix up, but i love my car... and i haven't any intention of selling it ever.

To verify if it is genuine, they have a unique model number for the 2 door & one for the 4 door. i no longer have the book with those details in it unfortunately.

go for the 2 door - might cost a bit more, but looks more sporty!

I'd say that the body is more inportant than the mechanical side of things. Parts are cheap, but rust can cause some real bills.
