Re: Capri drop tank plans?
Hi BlownV8: Yes, I was thoroughly expecting to chop the spare wheel recess out. Apart from hopefully giving me a (much) bigger tank underneath, I'd have more room in the boot for two spare tyres (front and rear), my toolbox and maybe a box with two batteries as well. Otherwise I'm going to have to cart a jerrycan around everywhere. I may end up removing the rear seat and lobbing in a single bucket seat (reverse McLaren arrangement).
Rat460:
SLOWLY getting there. I was up in Darwin until end of April to try and move things along, but waiting three months for engine parts to arrive from USA wasn't in the plan. The engine should be finished very soon (somewhere around 500bhp). The body is just about ready to be painted, we're waiting to get the engine back to fit it in and get the radiatior fitted to suit. From there it's basically getting things like drive shaft and tail shafts tailored and fitted. The Rod Hadfield V8 conversion kit comes with XE front disc brakes (think, have to check, may be XF), I'd be looking for the same for the rear so I can just run the same Xx master/slave cylinders to simplify. And some bits and pieces like an alternator mounting, water pump, fuel lines, so on. And a custom interior (I have a bunch of DVO gauges, a 200 Amp/hr alternator, a 3.1hp starter motor, Barry Grant 850 cfm carby, fuel pump and regulator, etc...), but insides can come after rego. I may have a contract back there in the next couple of months, which will help with finances too :)
I vaguely remember the old Capri's that used to howl around Bathurt (and owned the 3 litre class until the Sillycar made out of tin turned up) had drop tanks? Or did they have race cells that occupied half the boot as well? I'd try to talk to Bo Seton or Capri Components but I'm pretty sure they aren't around any more.
