Re: capri gearbox
Australian Capri V6 gearboxes were a side shift arrangement with messy linkages and were also fitted to UK built Zephyrs and Zodiacs. A later, top-loader type gearbox was used in the UK built facelift Capris from late 1971. These gearboxes were not commonly available in Australia but many have since been imported and fitted to V6 Capri's. These later boxes also had a better 2nd gear ratio! I believe that they were fitted to Granada's too. Standard torque quoted for the Australian built Capri was 173 lb ft @ 3000 rpm.
