Capri Scene in the USA

G'day from Australia.

Just discovered this forum. Had Capris since 1994 when I left University.
I'm not talking about the Aussie built convertibles, just the early British Mk 1s

The USA was the biggest market for early capris despite being more popular in the UK. Just wondered if there are any left and what the scene is like in the states?

I know of Team Blitz, but is there any other pockets of Capri ownership over there?

Cheers Glenn

Not very many at all, they were during the time of the muscle cars, didn't catch on over here. Oh, and here, they were under the Mercury badge.

Re: Capri Scene in the USA

G,Day mate,
yes there were just over half a million imported here in MK I and MK II form...mostly MK I's.
There is as far as I can find after searching for almost 20 years there is only 1 major concern in regards to the Euro made Capri's is indeed teamblitz.. however they are not at all communicative and they sell spares and service parts at over 10 times the actual value.. I don't know if they do sell because ive been buying parts for my MK III 3.0 S in England and having them shipped here at roughly a tenth of the cost of teamblitz.
Nice to know theres still interest in the Capri in Oz.
Just for your information there is small pockets of Capri owners here and there, all MK I and MK II across the country. But not online... you kinda run into them at car shows if your lucky.
I know there is only 3 MK III's in north America, a 2 litre in Ohio a TICKFORD in Canada and mine is at this present time the only 3.0 S in the States and was the first MK III ever to arrive in north America.
There is still plenty of interest in the UK and many clubs across the country.
However the Capri has become very rare there, mostly MK III 2.8 injection models and a few lasers can be seen at show but the 3 litre is extremely rare.

all the best mate
cheers
Bodie
