mad Car runs rough idles rough and stalls then it wont start back up for periods of time or period

Hopefully the title fit and is readable IF NOT i have the full explanation. bought a 99 Ford Escort 4DR sedan 2.0 liter auto trans. i bought it and it ran fine was getting a good 400+ miles to a tank now its down to like 125-145 miles to a tank. The car idles rough stalls when sitting too long and eats my gas like a freekin wildfire. I have no codes and it doesnt seem like its misfiring. Anyone please throw me some ideas i dont care how stupid they may seam im trying to find a sollution ASAP its my DD

Have you checked for codes? The light doesn't have to be on. If so, disconnect the MAF and see how it runs. If it runs better, you need a new MAF or try cleaning it. Make sure to check for codes first.

Start with basics by checking , plugs, wires and air filter .

I cleaned the MAF sensor and it ran pretty good for a while now i just plain cant get a start out of it.

Dependant on mileage , when was timing belt last checked or changed ?

2011 was when it was last checked it checked out fine. the whole engine is new from ford has less then 5k on it.

fuel pumps been changed in 2011 fuel filter was changed a few weeks ago.

As Bert said, check for codes, also verify you have spark and pressure at the fuel rail.
