Changing oil of Escort 1.4 91

hey guys,

Good thing I found this forum, I think you guys can help me.

i'm trying to change the oid and oil filter of my 1.4 Escort 91.

So today I got under the car and tried opening the nuts & bolts open, but the damn thing is rock soilid so I couldnt get it open.

Is there some special trick to it?

Which ones the problem:The drain plug or the oil filter bolt? In any event it just means more wheaties are required.

Well apart from making sure you are turning it the right direction, they have normal thread direction so I guess you would have it right, as Aussiblue said put some more effort in, grab a bit of pipe to make an extension bar to get it open, if you really get stuck, then pop into the local servo, ask nicely if they can loosen it for you, then go back home and finish the job. (might cost you 5 bucks but gets the job done)

Well having worked at a servo for a time, both filling cars, and the occasional workshop helping out, I learnt they will always find time, you may have to hang around a bit to get 5 mins of there time, just dont go up and be in a rush to get home again.

When you screw the new one in don't tighten the sh!t out of it will you.
Some timeswhen you can't get em out. You have to use realy a big screw driver & pierce right through filter and turn. Can you use a s/ driver etc and tap the top solid part alittle. Once you get some movement it should be ok by hand...Invest in a good filter remover...
