im putting a 302 windsor and a toploader in my capri . its a 1970 auto(i heard some years and manual and auto have different tunnels) has anyone put one in with out choping the car

the widest trans tunnels are in the gt's both auto and manual had the same tunnel, however the auto 1600 had the same tunnel as the gt's the manual 1600 had a narrower tunnel. i measured 1 today for my own project and the tunnel at the front gearbox mount is 330mm wide and where the shifter hole in the tunnal is about 230mm-240mm. from what i know a toploader is about 300mm wide.

Just for reference sakes, i have a lexus 4spd auto in my car that was originally a 4cyl auto. And this gearbox is huge.
