A few years ago, someone came up with the idea that if the clutch was in when you started the car, you wouldn't start the car in gear. So there's a switch or whatever somewhere in the clutch assembly that does that, and thats your problem, finding and adjusting or replacing that switch. I don't know exactly where it is since I haven't heard of this happening before. If the car's under warranty, the dealer would have to fix it without a hassle since it's a safety problem.
