HELP! All of a sudden...I hopped in my car the other morning and when I stepped on the clutch the starter began to turn. I had NOT even inserted the key yet. If I insert the key and put it in the "on" position and step on the clutch the starter runs and the car starts. However, the starter never stops running!

Any ideas?

A few years ago, someone came up with the idea that if the clutch was in when you started the car, you wouldn't start the car in gear. So there's a switch or whatever somewhere in the clutch assembly that does that, and thats your problem, finding and adjusting or replacing that switch. I don't know exactly where it is since I haven't heard of this happening before. If the car's under warranty, the dealer would have to fix it without a hassle since it's a safety problem.

Thanks for the reply Ron. Unfortunately, the car is not under warranty. I'll break open my service manual, find the switch and see what I can do. This is a start.
