Driverside window not working.

Ok. I took a part the door panel. When I press the window switch I can hear and feel a clicking sound but the window will not move. The motor was very hot. It appears the motor is draining the power from the battery so I disconnected the battery. The motor cooled down. I think I need to replace the motor and regulator. The problem is the window is stuck in the down position and I cannot get to the screws to remove the glass. Is there a way to manually raise the window? I am afraid of forcing the window up and breaking the glass. I cannot replace the motor and regulator assembley if the window is in the down position. Anyone out there know how to put the window up?

Also I have not figured out why the wipper blades will not turn off. I am able to adjust the speed but I cannot turn it off when the engine is running. I had to remove the fuse to get it to stop.

Thanks!

Re: Driverside window not working.

Tap the motor with something while you use the switch.

Re: Driverside window not working.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it but the window won't budge. I cannot even manipulate the window with my hands. When I pressed on the switch I can hear the motor clicking. It would click intermitently even when I was not holding the switch down. I guess I will just try removing the whole assmbly from the door and then remove the glass.

Thanks again! It looks like the whole thing needs to be replaced.

Re: Driverside window not working.

If it's clicking, it'll probably move if you keep trying to tap it while holding the switch to up.

Re: Driverside window not working.

I just remembered your other problem below. It could be the one touch down relay. Use the diagram to check for power loss somewhere in the circuit before replacing anything.

Re: Driverside window not working.

Thanks Bert. I was able to get the whole assembly out safely. It appears the regulator is frozen. I tried tapping but it still would not budge. I ordered another one today. Thanks for all of your advise.
