biggrin escort 1.4 8V

just a couple of things,
after replacing the cam belt and 2 valves in the end,
i have put engine back together,
set the the timing and it does start and sounds good :) but at times you can tell i that its not happy, i.e when i take the oil cap off the engine seems to die a little and there apears to be what i call creme building up around the cap and hole and you get a little bit of seem/ skoke coming out.

the other thing is that the engine seems to die a little when the fan comes on, would this be due to the battery hasnt had a propper charge and had gone flat while i was cranking the engine to bleed the power steering.

would these problems be the fact that water proberly got in to oil ways when i removed the head and the other reason the spark plugs are nackered!

Re: escort 1.4 8V

Dave? when you replaced the "Head" did you have it "resurfaced"? Did you replace the Head Gasket with a new one?

You may have a "Blown Head Gaset" ... if you see a Creamy like sludge on your oil cap...Check you oil Dip stick too.

Re: escort 1.4 8V

yes i did replace the head gasket, but it wasn't skimmed, they said it was ok,
all i can think of is that either the old gasket was going or water got in to the oil ways when i was removing the head so either way it wants an oil change..... what do you think ?

an this car is from 94/95 not 80s lol
