I have a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2. It is leaking Motor oil. The oil that is leaking seems to come from a location at the bottom portion of the engine. I am curious to know if anyone else has had a similar problem and what was the cause of the problem.

Could be the oil pan gasket, How big is the leak? Rear Main Seal?
Best way to fix it would be first is to use a UV light( they sell a kit at most autostores with a dye and UV light. With the UV you can trace the leak

TIP: USE JACKSTANDS! when under the car.

I'll second the oil pan gasket as the source of the leak. Had the oil pan gasket go on my '99 taurus a couple years back.

The ZX2 has a bad habbit of the pan gasket leaking. I raced those for 2 years and its hard to get one to seal even when wee had the engines out building them
