I have a 1988 escort. Having probs with the headlamps, i have changed the headlight swith on the steering wheel, changed the relay (RED), changed the relay (BROWN). The 10 amp fuses are ok, in anycase both headlamps are on dipped (as in park mode) not low beam as normal. I have High Beam - when high beam is turned on... So wat can it be? .. er yes i have changed the bulbs it aint that!... are there more dipped beam relays that i have overlooked?... over to you guys, i`m sure what i`m missing is simple.

You say 'MK4' then 1998 MY, do you mean 1988? If so, it's possible your car has a dim-dip (daytime running) relay which works in conjunction with the dip beam relay, that may need to be looked at.

yeah sorry i meant 1988 ! ... is the relay still in the fuse box? what colour is the daytime running relay?

Isn't there a seperate dimmer switch on this model?
