Escort ZX2 Stalling
My car is a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2: I have a problem with the car stalling and cutting off each time a stop is made (at the red light, the stop signs, during stop and go traffic, etc…). The spark plugs in this vehicle are new. The problem presents it self when the engine coolant temperature gauge reaches the normal operating area. A previous problem I had with this vehicle had to do with an oil leak. That problem was resolved when I discovered that the leak came from a partly screwed-on oil filter. However, before that problem was resolved, a large quantity of oil leaked on the under-carriage and some of the oil found its way to some of the various wires attached to the engine. I think that the oil leak has something to do with this present stalling problem. The stalling problem had not happen until after the oil leak occurred. Could it be that the leaked oil has something to do with this stalling problem? Do you think that the leaked oil affected one or more of the temperature or idle/RPM sensors?
