Ford Capri Sa Turbo Questions

Hi, I'm looking forward to buying a capri sa turbo, I was just wondering, what kind of modifications can you do to it? I heard from a friend that the turbo 1.6 is to small, to put any boost or blow off valve or air filter in, that would make any significant difference in performance...

I also heard that if you put a blow off valve or an air filter, it would not make the sound that most turbo's make, the hissing or the pChhhhhhhhhhhhh sound after the turbo is highly revved.

Please answer my questions. I've test driven the capri and it is a fun car to drive.. 100kw and 184 nm of torque, which isn't much, but good for a 90 car. If i can up the performance please suggest.

Cheers

Re: Ford Capri Sa Turbo Questions

hey mate, a blow-off valve works awesomely on these things, because stock-standard they run 8.1psi, which is a hell of a lot more than most turbocharged vehicles. Stock standard they will handle 12-13psi pretty easily, and you'll notice a huge gain in performance, exhaust will give you a shitload more power, and a bigger intercooler will add some power too.

I've seen one of these totally stock get $5k chucked into it to strengthen the internals and upgrade the turbo and it was running 30psi, and killing every skyline GTR in town, mine has strengthened internals and when running about 17psi i can beat any stock-standard WRX.
