Is it normal for me to have a lot of pressure difference between the gas tank and the oustide? When I remove my gas cap when it's near empty (1/8 - 1/4 full) it hisses pretty loudly. It may do it if it's full too, but I haven't tried. I haven't had this be so prevolant with any of my other cars, so I was just wondering if it's normal for my 91 GT or if it's a sign of something else i should know about.

Don't worry about it, it just gas that does not enough air is through the little air holes. During the summer my car does that too, along with the old Caprise wagen, of course the wagen would do that year round because it was a gas hog.

I have a 92 GT and mine does the same thing. It's usually the loudest when I'm really empty.

Just yesterday my did the same thing, really I think it's sound cool because have you ever watched Apollo 13 where they just get done filling the rocket with fuel and it makes that hissing noise I just get a thrill every times I fill my car up with gas. :)
