PLEASE HELP! I have a 99 Ford ZX2 that has a strong gas smell inside and out. It smells when the car is not running and when it is running. There are major gas fumes inside the car and you cannot roll the window down because that is just as bad if not worse. I took it to the shop and they cannot find anything wrong with it. They said the only thing they could think of was it did not have the ford gas cap on it. They told me to purchase the correct gas cap and that should help. Well I did that and it did not change anything. This is very scary!! Good thing I don't smoke lol!!
Does anyone have any suggestion?

Any fuel leaks need to be investigated, this doesn't sound normal to me.

there is a lot of vibration on the exhaust manni, my cat broke right off the mounts and on of the bolts broke on the mani because i had the ball joint on the cat back tightened up too much. there was a pretty bad exhaust leak there that smelled like straight fuel
