How do I change the rear speakers? - Ford Forums

I'm trying to put in some different rear speakers for my '00 ZX2. I got the little plastic pins off of the back cover on top, but it won't come off because it's looped behind the brake light. I have no idea why they'd add that little loop just to make it impossible to take it off.

So how do I get the back cover off so I can unscrew the speakers and replace them?

you have to take the third brake light out and the back cover should pop right out. and the speakers in the back are kinda weird sized. ford/mazda are kinda goofy. 6x9's won't fit. i think they are like 6x71/2's. you'll have to make some cuts if you want the 6x9's to fit. i put the pioneer 6x71/2's in. you can't tell much difference between those and the 6x9.
