i dare you

i dare u all to figure this one out.. I have a 91' escort gt my girlfriend was driving it and it started to bog and die,so she claims. got it home took it off the trailer and cranked and cranked.... it fired but barely... well i put her in the shop and kinda forgot about it for a while so now if you turn the key to run the dash lights come on as they should but the fuel pump don't hum... turn the key to crank and it doesn't crank but the fuel pump runs! It almost seems like if u could just crank that key a little farther shed go... well i tryed an ignition switch and the same problem... any ideas?
thanks
cliff

Re: i dare you

It won't be timing,it's definately ignition. Is the coil or distributor?Fuel pump relay is a good idea but what about a dodgy ignition barrel??

Re: i dare you

Cliff, i asume your in the US?

Probably just a wire came off, My ex wifes 91 Laser(same car), had this happen, it took me 2 hours to find the wire, was the coil wire, it looked like it was on, but just touchingthe terminal.
Good luck

Re: i dare you

Wouldnt you have nothing, not even a fuel pump if it was the coil or electrics ?

My old escort died totally and wouldnt turn over or anyhting, tho that turned out to be the starter motor

When the coil in my EL went i didnt get a fuel pump or anything ?

Cheers

Chris
