Today I had a 1994 Ford Escort GIVEN to me... FREE... 91,000 miles... Possibly NOT 191,000 ... And I was wondering if anyone has any info on the 1.9L engine that is contained within. Here's a pic:
The a/c does not work and the interior light only comes on if you open the rear passenger door. It has the factory 5-speed. Nevermind the 1988 Cadillac you see sitting beside it, that's my wife's car. It is kind of an adjustment going from a Cadillac to an Escort, but the gas mileage will be greatly appreciated. I would like to add some upgrades to the engine as CHEAPLY as possible because money is in short supply. Doing a quick search on Google netted me a website in England that sells turbochargers for the 1.9L engine, but I'm not looking to sink thousands of dollars into the car making a "Sleeper" out of it, although that would be nice... It has a few dents and pings and a blown driver's door speaker and a BIG spiderweb crack on the front windshield on the passenger side, but it seems to be a solid car except for what sounds like rubbing from the front right tire when I turn right. I'm still exploring the problems of the car, and hopefully if the weather is good tomorrow I'll look at what I can look at. I appreciate any info that anyone can give me. I'm a 3rd-time Ford owner, last 2 were a 1993 Ford Ranger Splash and a 1968 Mustang Fastback. Thanks in advance.
