When it's not your daily driver, it's alot better as you can do things at your leisure. Restoring a car is definitely a passion, it can be very frustrating and time consuming (and definitely money consuiming), moreso as information and parts are even harder to come by. But when you drive it, you get the rewards, you know when the heads turn they are not looking at the Corolla next to you with hubcaps and the baby seat in the back.

Indeed!

Ok, that was everything I was told and a whole lot more!

Information is great, thanks for taking the time to type it out.

They're called "EB" blocks because they have the letters EB cast into the block on the exhaust side between cylinders 3 & 4. A full German bottom end also has a slightly different crank and "selected" rods - whatever that mean't.

When Ford Australia ran out of local blocks they used to import batches of them to keep local production going. Generally these engines are just EB blocks only, but you never know. Then you get German heads, which have the letters EB cast into the valley on the exhaust side between cylinders 1 & 2. For some reason motorsport in the 70's & 80's used to chase down these blocks, but in reality the differences would only show up after many hours of racing or in big HP turbo motors. Hence the 200 et al blocks of the 80's & 90's. Over about 400hp the older blocks suffer badly from distortion on the cylinder walls.

So now you now all about EB blocks.
now that voice/writing sounds familiar.Danny? Nev?
