Re: MK 1 Ford Capri
Thanx for the replies, i have aquired the info i need from the RTA and my engineer. For those of you who are interested, these are the rules for N.S.W.
If the original car has a 4 cylinder engine in it, and weighs less than 1100 KG, then the biggest naturally aspirated engine you can fit is 3 x the manufactures tare weight of the vehicle. For forced induction, it is 2.5 times the manufactures tare weight of the vehicle.
ie, as max_torque said, a 1600 GT capri is 905Kg, so you can go to a 3 x 905 = 2715, or 2.7L engine naturally aspirated, or 2.5 x 905 = 2262.5, or 2.2L forced inducted.
Now......
If your 4 cylinder car weighs more than 1100 KG or was originally fitted with a 6 cylinder motoer, you can go 4.82 x manufacturers tare weight for naturally aspirated, or 4 x manufacturers tare weight for forced induction.
ie, a 71 V6 GT capri weighs 1070KG, but had a 6 cylinder in it, so 4.82 x 1070 = 5157.4, or 5.1L, go the windsor, or 4 x 1070 = 4280, or 4.2L Forced inducted, any one with a spare BA Turbo motor :-)
Hope this info is useful to someone. :-)
