Mk 6 ford escort estate 1998

Im new on hear and have a problem with the escort, the temperature gauge seems to be going extremely high when driving around town,on the motorway it stays at the right temperature,could anyone shed any light on this? im not losing any water and the fan works ok.

It may only be ur gauge, sometimes they play up electrically and don't read right. I used to have this problem with my fuel gauge. its not serious
