Does anyone know, or can they measure the overall width of a MK1 capri engine bay. I want to do a different conversion on one, and need to know the width of engine i can fit in it.
Any info would be great.

I think it is about 44"
it is slightly wider than an AU Falcon.
Be careful of the steering shaft that takes up a bit of room and is the main problem. A windsor V8 will fit easily

44" is about 1.1 Meters, How sure r u about it. Sounds a bit weird that a capri has more room than an au, considering it is a much wider car overall.

it is definatly wider than an AU Falc. There is a Capri in the backyard and i measured it ages ago and then measured the AU and the capri was slightly wider. I was surprised too.

Just to clarify, that is inside the strut towers, not overall width?

That is between Strut Towers on a '70 model 1600

I am going to choose not to answer that at the moment. As you can see from my sig, i was going to go for something similar to most peoples option in a capri with a little difference, but there a few similar projects underway at the moment. I like to be different from everyone else, so i will keep this one to myself, and hopefully it will be a one of a kind, for a while at least anyway.
