confused Mk3 Ford Escort Water works!

I have an 86 (c-reg) Mk 3escort cabriolet. The problem that i have is that everytime the car gets hot and i turn off the ignition, all of the water from expansion tank comes out of the overflow pipe. If i turn the engine back on whilst the water is coming out of the overflow pipe it stops, as to does it if i block the overflow pipe!! The heaters in the car work fine, as does the fan, and there are no tell tale signs of problems with the head (white sludge on dipstick or white smoke from exhaust) I have also tried several times to drain and back flush the system to get rid of air locks.

I have changed the radiator, thermostat, all relevant hosing, and radiator cap. I am now stuck and dont know what else to do apart from getting a pressure test done

If anyone has got any solutions or has had the same problems and can help me resolve this i would be grateful have an 86 (c-reg) Mk 3escort cabriolet. Is the engine actually overheating? If you're sure the thermostats in the right way round, I'd go ahead and get the cooling system pressure test done while its hot. When pressurised, take out the spark plugs and see if there's any signs of water ingress to the cylinders (you may need to wait a while). As well as head gasket failure, faulty water pumps can give a syphoning effect, so this would need to come off to check the condition of the impellor.
