After having fun around calder in the BA XR, i'm now looking for a play car... Escort RS2000 has come to mind. Any suggestions about where to get one and things to look out for... (apart from whats already been covered in this thread). I've never driven a car which is almost as old as me.

EG: whats the difference between an 1979 RS2000 (built in Australia) and a 1980 RS 2.0 (built in UK).... Do they run on unleaded? etc...

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...

Re: mrk2 RS2000 info

The bulk head is prone to rusting... tip some water in front of the windscreen and then chech the footwells!

No they do not run well on ulp, but you can add hardened seats and s/s valves. 79-81 RS2000's were the Aussie cars. The 25 UK built Mk2 RS200's were imported by ford in 1976. They go for a premium price, and were slightly different to the Aussie built RS2000's. Also, Australia was the only place you could get a factory 4 door RS2000.

Re: mrk2 RS2000 info

Aus was also the only place to have Softomatic RS2000's avalaible. Uk RS2000's have slightly more power and slightly different interior and suspension.

Re: mrk2 RS2000 info

Aren't the German RS2000's or the Group 1 Spec RS2000's the ones to look out for?

My personal fave is the RS1800 with the flat front.
